Unplugged Europe
Habituation is one of our greatest spiritual enemies. We learn how and forget why. We start doing ministry out of memory instead of ministry out of imagination. The end result is that we do ministry the way it’s always been done and then wonder why ministry has become monotonous.
Unplugged Europe will help you unleash your creative potential and find new ways of reaching the unchurched in a post-Christian society. What does it mean to lead as pastors in this context? How do we decode culture and stimulate an atmosphere of creativity and imagination as a three-dimensional means of bringing Christ into our spheres of influence?
The Conversation
We’re looking towards:
- Overcoming Habituation
- Decoding Culture
- Unleashing Right-Brain Imagination
- Discovering your unique churchprint
What better time and location for this conversation than smack dab in the middle of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival—the world’s largest cultural festival.
Unplugged will be held in the casual setting of The Jazz Bar on Chambers Street. It’s a frequented hot spot for the hip Uni student, the stylish businessman, an aspiring artist or the indulging masses.
Jazz improvisation has often been seen as an acquired taste. To an untrained ear, it sounds like chaos. But at its most basic, improvisation is the process of spontaneously creating new melodies over the continuously repeating cycle of chord changes of a tune.
In other words, the chords provide the foundational framework, but the improvisation multiplies the song’s potential and a new song is created. The creative capacity in jazz is key.
In church and in faith, we’ve divorced our right brains—our creativity. Join us at Unplugged Europe August 21-22 in Edinburgh, Scotland and let’s engage our right brains and tap our creative potential together.
