Unplugged Europe Hosts

Eikon Church – Edinburgh, Scotland

eikon
noun

  1. Icon
  2. Etymology: From (term, sc=Grek, , tr=eikón, , likeness, image, portrait), related to (term, sc=Grek, , tr=eikénai, be like, look like).

Eikon ChurchEikon was formed out of a passion to create a space for the unchurched (Mark 2:17), a space for whomever, wherever they are at on their journey of discovering what it means to be a Christ-follower in a post-Christian, globalized world.

There are plenty of steeples in the city of Edinburgh, but you’ll not find Eikon at any of them. Ascribing to the philosophy that church literally should be in the middle of the marketplace, Eikon gathers just above The Forest Café, a unique non-profit organization that is the hottest spot in the city for the environmentally conscious, artistic loving, social action driven twenty-something.

At just over one-year old our “grace space” culture has attracted 80% unchurched or dechurched to the weekly gatherings. Our monthly Open Mic is now the most popular in the city.
